Research

The story is set between two Chinese-themed apartments, so I searched for Malaysian and Singaporean shophouses to observe the architectural style and adopted it into my animation.

Some other styles I refer to for the characters:

Ideation and Conceptualization

The were numerous overhauls to the basic story and idea of the project, but here is the run down of the current story of the project:

The theme was "rhythm", so I thought instead of using merely rhythm in music or sound, language is also a form of rhythm, in terms of how we speak. I decided to fuse the different definitions together to construct a storyline that fit to it.

Thus I created a story about two neighbors struggling to communicate to each other due to language barrier. The boy speaks in binary codes (ones and zeroes), whereas the girl speaks in Morse code (dots and dashes)
